New Apple = Better Smart Homes

Hey Everyone! By now, you may have heard and read a bit about the newest software and hardware announced by Apple last week at their WWDC event. We’re going to break down a few of the big changes over the next few days so you can better understand and learn what new changes are coming to your phones, computers, iPads, and smart homes!

Today’s issue:

  • The New Apple Home App

  • Matter and What it Means for Your Smart Home

The New Smart Home Center

Apple has seriously been firing on all cylinders bringing their smart home game up to par with the competition. The “one app for everything” idea has been a long-term goal of seemingly most smart home tech providers, including Amazon with the Alexa App, Google Nest, and others even like Ring and Lutron.

Of course, many people also use control4 or savant systems to control their smart homes. Though, the tech coming soon blows away the need for any hefty and expensive system like these.

Apple is now updating its current Home app further, to be simpler and even easier to use and control every single smart home product in your home or living space. Now we can even customize the entire screen layout, allowing every homeowner to have their own customized screen view of their smart home controls and security cameras.

This is a big deal, as Apple is getting further and further ahead at seriously achieving the perfect all-in-one smart home app to control literally everything. Now, how are they going to connect to Amazon products or Samsung? Here comes Matter.

Matter in the House

Matter is a universal connectivity standard that Apple has helped build from the ground up. The goal is soon to have matter technology inside every smart home product, from every company. In doing so, every smart product from every company involved will be able to finally talk to one another, and work in harmony.

Alexa and Siri? Soon to be best friends. Matter rollout in smart products will begin later this year, and we’re excited to see what it does to finally transform the smart home into a connected network with actual smarts.

We’ll see you next week to talk more about other new releases from Apple and others! Have a great weekend!
